Yeast Infections in Pets’ Ears

Zymox

Hands down, this is the best product I’ve ever found for clearing up yeast infections in my pets’ ears: the Zymox Otic Enzymatic Solution:

In my post about Flexicose, a fantastic joint health supplement for pets and people alike, I mentioned how my bluetick coonhound mix used to get yeast infections in his ears, but didn’t say what cures it. I just added a postscript to that article. He is allergic to wheat, and if he eats it, that brownish-reddish gunk, evidence of a yeast infection, may show up in his ears.

Zymox has worked better than anything else. They make this product with or without hydrocortisone and also make an ear cleaning solution. The price is very reasonable and you don’t need a prescription to buy it. Amazon is just one online retailer that sells Zymox.

Before you purchase this product, please be sure that you are dealing with a yeast infection in your cat or dog’s ears and not ear mites. They can look very similar. It’s important that your vet diagnoses the issue before you treat it. Pet owners dealing with the same issue repeatedly can learn the differences, so this is a product I’d recommend to veteran pet owners.

My recommendation is not a substitute for a veterinarian’s assessment or advice. I don’t know what your fuzzy one has. But no matter what is in your pet’s ears, it’s important that the problem be resolved to alleviate their suffering and to prevent more serious damage.

Imagine if your ears were full of gunk– it would be horribly miserable. Your pet needs you to practice regular gentle ear cleaning and to solve their problems as they arise, so you might consider buying a bottle of Zymox to keep them in good health.

  1. My vet recommended Maxi/Guard Zn 4.5 Otic (A natural ear care solution with zinc). My dog was shaking her had all the time, and was diagnosed with yeast, and allergies. It was also recommended to clip fur from her ears, not get water in her ears when bathing, and I changed her shampoo to hypo-allergenic solutions.

Thanks for your comment on my post, “FORGIVE AND FORGET” – IS IT POSSIBLE?
