Happy Thanksgiving!

Once again, the creative souls that decorate the cow and coyote sculpture in downtown Kirkland have been at work. This time we have a bovine pilgrim and a howlin’ turkey to gaze upon.

Thank you to whoever keeps coming up with these hilarious costumes.

This week I heard a question that really made me stop and think: what if all you had today is what you thanked God for yesterday? That’s a sobering thought. It made me realize that I take more for granted than I thought I did.

Life is not calm or stable or safe for many people this Thanksgiving. In a world of seven billion people, some will be alone. Some are about to lose the place they live. Some are fighting for their very lives. Sometimes it can seem hard to find something to be thankful for in the midst of chaos and doubt.

But there is a constant. There is something to be thankful for no matter what. It can act as a lighthouse beacon to guide you through the darkest, ugliest times. God has given us the option to exist beyond this life. No matter what happens here, if you decide to follow Him, that can never be taken from you. It means that no matter what, ultimately you will be okay.

That’s something amazing to be thankful for.

Happy Thanksgiving everyone!
