The ‘Israelification’ of airports: High security, little bother – thestar.com.

This article from the Toronto Star discusses how Israel’s airport security differs from the U.S. and Canada. We can learn a lot from a country that, as reporter Cathal Kelly points out, has a higher terror threat, but has managed to minimize the inconveniences travelers face.

Saturday Night Live’s TSA skit last night seemed to speak for a lot of Americans that don’t want to be groped by strangers. It was crude, but it was a colorful way of pointing out that the TSA’s body scans and pat downs are just too personal.

Israel uses behavioral profiling to screen for potential threats instead of violating people’s civil liberties or personal space. They know what they’re looking for and their staff are trained to prevent terrorist acts without treating regular passengers like terrorists.
