While out and about today I saw a sign that was worded the same as this one, which has a similar design.
My first thought was “STOP TRICK OR TREATING!” as if this were some sort of protest against the tradition of knocking on doors to get sugary, fattening wrapped items.
If it were worded “Trick or Treat Stop,” it would mean that it’s okay for children to stop by for treats. That order of words has more clarity.
It is possible that these people have extra candy and have extended their trick or treat hours since the sign’s still up…
I have to admit that I intially thought something to the effect of “For crying out loud! Stop trick or treating!” as if it were an organized movement to halt yet another evil capitalist scheme to achieve world domination.
You never know. One thing’s for sure, though. Kids of all ages need to learn to say thank you when given candy. I’ve heard several people remark on the number of kids who didn’t this year, and also about the teenagers who return multiple times.
So for crying out loud, say thank you when you’re trick or treating. And rather than focusing our attention today on stopping corporate greed, lets band together to stop Halloween greed. Somebody worked for the ability to pay for that candy, yo.
