Driving through Kenmore, Washington last Sunday– the day of the big Seahawks game versus the Panthers– I spotted these two feathered fans at a major intersection.

Kirkland has its cow and coyote statue that is duly decorated for such occasions, but I’d never seen these bike racks gussied up before. So I grabbed ye olde cell phone camera.

Herons are dear to Kenmore. There is a colony of Great Blue Herons at the Kenmore Park and Ride right on bustling Bothell Way. Who ever thought a park and ride would be a birding hot spot?

Seahawks

Here in the Seattle area it sounds like the Fourth of July outside. The brisk night air bristles with the acrid smell of fireworks as screams and cheers reverberate throughout our neighborhoods. People are literally out in the streets celebrating. The Seahawks, after 38 years, have finally won the Super Bowl. And they didn’t just win it, they steamrolled Denver 43 to 8. (more…)

Speaking of which, given the growing discontent with how the legalization of marijuana is being implemented– Seattle-area residents of all ages and our pets now get to walk through clouds of nauseating pot smoke in a variety of venues– this curious thought was brought to my attention. (What happened to “smoking is bad for you?”)
