Thanks to Amy Rolph at the Seattle PI for sharing this video from The 206 crew. If you’re a fan of the old Almost Live series, you’ll recognize who’s involved instantly.

There is so much truth to this video. For years this has been the typical format for a campaign video in Washington State– showing the candidate engrossed in their meetings with “ordinary people.” I parodied this video format in a 2010 post, Join Me in Twirling, Twirling, Twirling Towards Freedom, https://wildninja.wordpress.com/2010/11/03/join-me-in-twirling-twirling-twirling-towards-freedom/.

In the 1990s, Seattle became known for coffee, grunge, and political correctness. Thankfully one local comedy troupe had the wherewithal to poke fun at every niche of Seattle-area society anyway– no one was spared.

Saturday nights at 11:30, Almost Live created memorable characters like the High Five’n White Guys, Jet Guy, and The Survivalist. They unabashedly showcased this area’s stereotypes and performed skits about aspects of local culture that were usually discussed behind closed doors. (more…)
