Woodkash? Normir?

The Aaron English Band has released its latest video, a medley of The Beatles’ Norwegian Wood and Led Zeppelin’s Kashmir. It was recorded in Seattle’s Two Sticks studio.

Admittedly, I am not a big fan of the Beatles’ music after they met Bob Dylan. He introduced them to Puff the Magic Dragon (wink, wink). Until I heard this, I’ve never cared for this song or any remake of it. But… this is catchy, and four minutes in, the tempo change morphs into Aaron’s interpretation of what many people regard as one of the greatest rock songs ever.

When I first watched this video, I did a double take when the flutist came onscreen. Alan Rickman! What’s he doing in Aaron’s band?! Why did they keep showing him in black and white, as if they’d taped Alan Rickman elsewhere and spliced him in? But this isn’t Alan Rickman, and he’s actually in the band. They say everyone has a doppelganger… it cracked me up to see someone else make the same comparison on their YouTube page.

Sheriff of Nottingham: Locksley! I’m gonna cut your heart out with a spoon!

Guy of Gisbourne: Why a spoon cousin? Why not an axe?

Sheriff of Nottingham: Because it’s dull, you twit, it’ll hurt more!
