WSU Starry Night

Sometime in the past couple of years I saw this painting on a Washington State University website. It’s obviously a WSU-themed play on Van Gogh’s Starry Night and it captures the warmth of the campus in Pullman, Washington very well. Some of you WSU alumni have likely seen this on Facebook or Pinterest.

Curious about the artist, I plugged his name into Google and found that this guy has a curriculum vitae the size of a small planet. Originally from Calcutta, Avimanyu Datta is currently the Assistant Professor of Strategic Management and Entrepreneurship in the College of Business at Illinois State University (say that in one breath).

According to this 2011 article on the piece, both Datta and his wife are Cougs. His website is Avimanyu Datta. This is a pleasant reminder of just how talented some WSU alumni are and of the impact they are having on this world.

And it’s nice just to gaze into this picture and enjoy its ambiance, losing yourself in the rolling starlit hills of the Palouse.

God writes the Gospel not in the Bible alone, but also on trees, and in the flowers and clouds and stars. -Martin Luther
